Strava help

Learn how to connect Strava to PocketCoach, what activity summary data is imported, how to disconnect, and how deletion works.

PocketCoach can connect to Strava so completed activity summaries appear in PocketCoach for the connected user. Users can disconnect Strava from PocketCoach or from Strava settings.

Connect Strava

Go to Settings > Connections and tap Connect Strava. You'll be taken through Strava's own sign-in and authorisation screen, and once you approve access, PocketCoach begins pulling in your recent completed activities automatically.

What syncs from Strava

When connected, PocketCoach can bring in completed activity summaries: sport type, activity name, duration and moving time, distance, average and max speed or pace, average and max heart rate, cadence where available, and elevation gain. These summaries appear in your History tab and, where they match a planned session, get linked to it.

What does not sync

PocketCoach does not collect GPS coordinates, route polylines or maps, location data, photos attached to an activity, kudos, comments, or any other social data from Strava, nor segment or leaderboard information. Only the activity summary fields listed above are brought in.

How syncing works

Strava syncing in PocketCoach uses Strava's webhooks rather than repeated polling, so new activities can typically appear within minutes of being uploaded to Strava. If an activity seems delayed, you can also trigger a manual sync from Settings > Connections.

Find your synced activities

Synced activities show up on the History tab's timeline, grouped by week, alongside anything you've marked complete manually in the app. Tap an activity for full detail: distance, duration, moving time, elevation gain, and average or max heart rate and speed where available.

Sessions matched to activities

If a Strava activity lines up with a session your coach had already planned, PocketCoach links the two so the planned session shows as completed with the matching activity's detail attached, rather than appearing twice in your history.

Disconnect and delete your data

You can disconnect Strava at any time from Settings > Connections; this removes your synced Strava data from PocketCoach according to current app docs. You can also revoke access directly from your Strava account settings, and PocketCoach removes the associated data once it receives the resulting deauthorisation notice.

Garmin, Zwift, and structured workouts

PocketCoach does not connect directly to Garmin or Zwift. Structured endurance workouts your coach creates can instead move through Intervals.icu, a separate connection you manage in Settings > Connections, into Garmin and Zwift workflows.

Clear answers

Does Strava sync happen instantly?

Sync uses Strava's webhooks, so new activities can typically appear within minutes of uploading, rather than in true real time.

Can I connect Garmin or Zwift directly to PocketCoach?

Not directly. Structured workouts can reach Garmin and Zwift through a separate Intervals.icu connection.

What happens to my data if I disconnect Strava?

Disconnecting removes your synced Strava activity data from PocketCoach. Revoking access from within Strava has the same effect once PocketCoach receives the deauthorisation notice.

Does my AI coach see my Strava routes or photos?

No. PocketCoach does not collect GPS routes, photos, or social data from Strava, and this site does not claim Strava data is used to operate or ground the AI coach.
