Open a conversation
Tap the Coach tab to start chatting with your AI coach. If you are not sure what to ask, use one of the suggested prompts, such as "Create a training plan for this week," "How did my training go?" or "Update tomorrow's session." Your coach reads your profile and recent app context before responding.
Ask for a training plan
Ask your AI coach to build or adjust a plan in plain language, for example "Plan my training for next week" or "I only have three days free this week." Proposed sessions and changes go through an approval step before anything is applied to your schedule, so you can review what is being added, changed, or removed before it takes effect.
Ask for nutrition guidance
Your coach can also put together meal and nutrition guidance timed around your training, for example "Create a meal plan for this week" or "I don't eat fish." Nutrition events appear on the Today screen and Calendar alongside your sessions. This guidance is informational, not a substitute for advice from a registered dietitian.
Talk through progress and questions
Ask your coach how a week went, why a session changed, or general questions about training, recovery, or technique. Responses are generated by an AI system based on the context available in your account, including your profile, recent sessions, check-ins, and conversation history. They are not medical advice and should not replace guidance from a qualified professional, especially for pain, injury, or health concerns.
Manage your conversations
Tap the conversation list icon in the top left to see past conversations, or tap New Chat to start a fresh one. Long press a conversation to delete it. Starting a new conversation is useful when you are switching topics or when your coach seems to be working from stale information, since each new conversation loads current app context.
Copy a message
Long press any message in a conversation to copy its text to your clipboard; a brief confirmation appears once it's copied. This is useful for saving a plan summary or a piece of advice you want to refer back to outside the app.
Understand your message limits
The free tier includes 20 messages per day with your AI coach. If you reach that limit, you'll see a message with instructions for adding your own API key. Adding a key in Settings > Coach removes the daily limit; usage against your own key is billed by your AI provider under their terms, not PocketCoach's.
Remember what matters
Your coach can store facts and corrections it learns from you, such as an injury history or a scheduling preference, so they carry into future conversations. You can review everything stored under Settings > Coach's Memory, delete individual entries, or clear all of them if you would rather your coach relearn from your profile.
